Adding or upgrading a deck is a great way to add usable space for entertaining or just relaxing with family and friends. Our deck building team can create the perfect deck to fit your needs and budget.
Prices for decks can range from a couple thousand dollars to tens of thousands. This really depends on the size of the deck, upgrades such as lighting, railings, structures, feature walls, and most importantly the type of materials used on the project. Here are some options of materials we can use for your project.
A very popular choice and the most economical material to use is pressure treated wood. Pressure treated wood requires little maintenance and is a great choice if you’re looking for a durable and economical product. It requires little maintenance and will withstand moisture rot for an extended period. Because pressure treated wood absorbs a significant amount of moisture during its manufacturing process it is usually installed wet and will dry within a couple of weeks in the open air and sun. Some cracking and warping may occur during this period.

For anyone who appreciates the smell and look of Cedar, this is a great choice. Cedar is more expensive than pressure treated wood and requires some regular treatments to keep it looking fresh and new. Untreated cedar will change colour to a light grey. Cedar can be treated with a sealant to extend the life and natural look. A stain may also be applied to produce the colour that suits your design. I do not recommend applying a solid stain or paint on your cedar deck, as it will cover up the beautiful grains of the cedar and has a tendency to peel within a year or two. This creates an ongoing maintenance project for you or your paint contractor. I recommend using a translucent stain which will lead to less peeling and easier future refinishing.

Composite decking is often a more expensive option. There are many brands, colours, and price points to choose from. A benefit to composite deck material is they require very little maintenance. We recommend to do a light powerwash to clean the dirt that will accumulate on the deck surface. Please consider that composite decks have been known to get hot in direct sunlight and you will not be able to change the colour of the boards if you get tired of the look.

Planning is key to designing a deck that will work best for you and the space. Here are some questions to consider when making your plan.
- What is the main purpose or reason for the new deck?
- How much of your backyard would you like to occupy with deck space?
- How much green space would you like to maintain?
- Would you like to integrate natural elements into your deck design?
- Have you considered installing custom planter boxes on or around the deck to soften the look and add some natural elements?
- Are there areas in the backyard or around your house that you can utilize better with a deck surface?
- Do you like a modern look or are you looking for a warmer cottage feel?
- What type of railing best suits your desired style of deck?
- Have you considered increasing privacy by adding privacy panels to the deck?
- Would you like an area of the deck to be covered from the sun and rain for entertaining?
- Would you like lighting on your deck?
- Would you like multiple deck levels with independent functions?
We are happy to help with any deck repairs you may need. Here is a list of some of the common repairs we do to decks.
- Replace rotting boards
- Fix broken railing and/or replace railing
- Install boards or lattice
- Close in the underside of the deck
- Replace rotting joists and/or supports
- Relevel existing deck

This is a great way to revitalize your existing deck without the costs associated with a new build. We are also able to alter the footprint and expand your existing deck. This process involves removing the outer shell and railings from the old deck and keeping the existing footings, saddles and joists. With the outer shell removed we can inspect the condition of the footings and skeleton of the deck to see if it is in a condition to reface. In most cases the skeleton is in good enough condition to complete the transformation. We will replace any joists or footings that are in bad condition if necessary. In some cases, we recommend replacing a structure if the condition of the structure cannot be repaired. When a refacing job is complete, you will have the appearance of a brand new deck.
